# Vietnam e-Visa for Australians: 90 Days, Single or Multiple Entry
In short: Australians need a visa for Vietnam. The simplest option is the government e-visa, valid for up to 90 days with single or multiple entry, applied for only at evisa.gov.vn or thithucdientu.gov.vn. (Vietnam Immigration Department)
Step 1: Check you qualify
Vietnam's foreign ministry says the e-visa is open to citizens of all countries and territories. You must be outside Vietnam, hold a valid passport, and not fall under the entry-suspension cases in Article 21 of Vietnam's law on foreigners' entry and exit. (Vietnam MOFA)Step 2: Choose single or multiple entry
Pick multiple entry if you plan side trips to Cambodia or Laos and will come back into Vietnam. Either way, the e-visa lasts at most 90 days. (Immigration Department)Step 3: Apply and pay on the official portal
The fee is paid through the official electronic payment gateway. A government fee schedule we found through search today lists USD 25 for single entry and USD 50 for multiple entry up to 90 days (ASEM Connect Vietnam). Unverified: we could not load that page directly, so confirm the fee on the portal before you pay.Step 4: Print or save the approval
Carry it with your passport for check-in and arrival.Mistakes to avoid
- Using a look-alike agent site. The official portal has used only two domains since 11 November 2024: evisa.gov.vn and thithucdientu.gov.vn. (Immigration Department) - Expecting a refund if refused. Fees are not refunded. (Immigration Department) - Picking single entry for a loop trip. Re-entering needs a new visa.Next country? See Cambodia visa on arrival or Thailand visa exemption.
